Abstract

This study aims to obtain an overview of the improvement in student mathematics learning outcomes using manipulatives with Cooperative Learning Everyone is a Teacher Here (ETH- cooperative learning) and students who learn to use manipulatives with conventional learning. The research design used was quasi-experiment with the type of pretest posttest control group design with a population of all first-level students who were studying matriculation at one of the STIKES in Indonesia. The number of samples of two classes was selected by purposive sampling, with the number of control class students being 38 people and the experimental class being 44 people. Class A as a control class gets conventional learning using manipulatives. Class B as an experimental class receives learning by using manipulatives through ETH-cooperative learning. The result is an increase in mathematics learning outcomes of students who learn to use manipulatives with ETH-cooperative learning higher than students who learn to use conventional manipulatives.

Abstract

Jumantik plays a pivotal role in the control of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF). Participatory mapping training can enhance its risk of transmission recognition. This research aims to identify the potential use of DHF risk factors participatory mapping training for Jumantik. This experimental research carried out from October 2013-January 2014 in four DHF highest prevalence regions in Malang. Mapping is based on data from Google Earth, DHF risk factors like homes, ovitrap sites, and larva-positive buildings, and the DHF prevalence over the past 6 months. The results indicate a variety of participant’s capacity to generate maps while the ability to analyze and plan was conspicuously absent. Qualitative data reveals there's an intention to map DHF individually by a few numbers of jumantik and primary healthcare staff. The conclusion is that this training prototype can be further adapted by accounting participant’s features, approaches, and capabilities as well as primary healthcare commitment for its continuity.

Abstract

Nowadays, religious pluralism (pluralistic multiculturalism) in Indonesia is proliferating. Universitas Paramadina is allegedly a university where Nur Cholis Madjid (Cak Nur) fosters religious pluralism ideology through the curriculum of pluralistic multiculturalism-based philosophy and religious studies programs. This is proven normatively through the curriculum policies in the Philosophy and Religious Studies Programs based on the Decree of the Paramadina Rector Number SKEP-006a/Rek/UPM/I/2008. Those curriculum policies contained the Lecture Program Unit (Syllabus) and the Outline of Teaching Program. They were also allegedly that religious pluralism was taught in one of its courses named the Seminar on Madjid’s Thought. The purpose of this study was to describe and analyze: The implementation of a pluralistic multiculturalism-based philosophy and religious studies program curriculum policy at Universitas Paramadina. The results revealed that the implementation of pluralistic multiculturalism-based philosophy and religious studies programs at Universitas Paramadina used Grindle theory as a grand theory. Normatively, Universitas Paramadina has not been proven to develop, spread, and teach religious pluralism. This means that the policies of the philosophy and religious studies program curriculum are not based on pluralistic multiculturalism but instead based on Islam of the Archipelago. That means a new concept is open, analytical, and critical to building the character of independent thinking in the fields of Islam, Indonesia, and Modernity. Moreover, field data show that Madjid never taught religious pluralism but a plurality. It means the attributes or character of Paramadina’s lecturers and students to understand religious diversity without the belief that all religions are equally true. This is the cause of “misperception” between religious pluralism and plurality for the younger generation/successors (lecturers and students) of Universitas Paramadina. After Madjid died, the younger generation/successor misinterpreted religious pluralism with this plurality, so students did not understand the core meaning of religious pluralism and plurality.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of an 8-week Latin aerobics on the static and dynamic balance of children with congenital blindness. Ten (10) congenitally blind children participated in this single-group experimental research. This study tested the static balance of the participants through One Leg Stance (OLS) and the dynamic balance through Timed Up To Go (TUG). The data were analysed through paired t-test. Results of the study showed statistically significant differences during the OLS pre- and post-tests of the right and left legs. No statistically significant differences were observed when the OLS pre- and post-test scores of the right and left legs were compared. The result of the pre- and post-test in the TUG was statistically different. The findings highlighted the effectiveness of Latin aerobics in improving the static and dynamic balance of congenitally blind children.

Abstract

The decision of the Minister of Education and Culture concerning the prevention of co-19 which suddenly made "learning at home" during the pandemic forced various parties to follow the flow so that learning could take place, one of which was online learning. Measurement of the quality of asynchronous online learning is essential to do, to get a better picture and become a guideline for making improvements. Measurement includes aspects of expert assessment and student satisfaction using survey methods. The type of data collected is the data from the expert assessment and the data from the student satisfaction survey on Edmodo. Data sources included two experts and 58 students as respondents. Data collected by distributing questionnaires. The instrument used in the form of Edmodo asynchronous online learning manuals on engine electricity courses, expert assessment questionnaires and student satisfaction survey questionnaires on Edmodo. Data in the form of numbers were analyzed using descriptive statistical analysis. The conclusion is the quality of asynchronous online learning of Edmodo-based electrical engine subjects during the co-19 pandemic at the State University of Malang in terms of expert perspectives in the "Very High" category and viewed from the satisfaction of students in the "High" category.

Abstract

Story telling has been an icon of local culture preservation. Since local wisdoms knotted in local cultures are prone to be eroded along the changing eras, an effort to bring back and preserve them should be the penultimate concern, before implementing those values in real basis. Folklores have been the media to incarnate those local wisdoms, and thus this book is worth referring to when it comes to the topic of folklores for storytelling. All folklores covered in this book are originating from Indonesia, as the name suggests, “Nusantara”, served in bilingual versions – Bahasa and English. A series of training and drilling were planned to be conducted in SMP Negeri 02 and 03 Batu so as to project the English pronunciation precision. The stages include the followings: (1) FGD (Focused-Group Discussion) between researchers and the teachers as well as the students to tap challenging sounds susceptible to be mispronounced during storytelling the folklores taken from the book; (2) mapping corresponding English-Hijaiyah sounds to train; (3) modeling by CS Team and English teachers; (4) the students’ English pronunciation training by means of Hijaiyah corresponding sounds; (5) reflection and feedback for the betterment of training activities; (6) the students’ simulation for storytelling; and (7) video taking and making.
